Trump again pushes back US tariffs on Chinese goods

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order extending a tariff truce with China by another 90 days, hours before levies in Chinese goods were due to shoot back up to 145 percent. Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian earlier issued a statement expressing hopes that the US will work with China to follow a consensus reached during a phone call between the two heads of state, and that Beijing hopes Washington will strive for positive outcomes on the basis of equality, respect and mutual benefit. Police arrest man for adding urine to supermarket soft drinks

Police say a 63-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly placing bottles of soft drinks that might have been contaminated with urine in several supermarkets. Officers say the suspect will be charged in connection with administering a noxious substance with intent to injure, aggrieve, or annoy another person. He is due to appear in Kowloon City court on Tuesday. Janice Lo reports.
Ocean Park rides checked stringently, despite malfunction: engineer

Ocean Park says it's conducting an investigation after its "Wild Twister" ride experienced a signal failure and came to an abrupt halt on Sunday. Seventeen people were stranded in mid-air for over an hour as a result of the incident. No one was injured. Louis Szeto, past chairman of mechanical, marine, naval architecture and chemical division at the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, said theme park rides are subject to regular, stringent checks. Clarification urged for elderly driver health checks

A family doctor says he hopes the government will clarify whether elderly professional drivers who suffer from certain ailments will be allowed to continue working. This comes as authorities consider a proposal to require drivers aged 65 or above to undergo stricter physical exams annually. As Janice Lo reports, the tests could also include detecting for signs of dementia and glaucoma, which is an irreversible eye disease that can lead to blindness.

Trump says he's 'going to Russia' for talks with Putin

US President Donald Trump seemed to confuse Russia and Alaska twice during a press conference at the White House. Trump announced last week that he would meet Russian President Vladimir Putin this Friday in Alaska where the two leaders are expected to discuss the conflict in Ukraine. The summit comes as Trump has hardened his stance towards Moscow, agreeing to allow additional US weapons to reach Ukraine and threatening tariffs against buyers of Russian oil.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says that are no signs that Russia was preparing to put an end to its hostilities in Ukraine. He cited intelligence reports as saying that Russian troops and forces were seemingly being mobilised to launch a new offensive. Zelensky also stressed that the meeting in Alaska between the leaders of Russia and the United States would be meaningless without his participation:
UN condemns Israel over journalist killings in Gaza

The United Nations has condemned a targeted Israeli attack that killed six journalists in Gaza. The reporters, five of which worked for Al Jazeera, were killed in an Israeli air strike on Sunday, in what the broadcaster has called a "targeted assassination". Al Jazeera said the strike hit a tent for reporters outside the al-Shifa hospital. These latest deaths add to the growing toll of journalists killed during 22 months of Israeli bombardment on Gaza.
