Police have arrested 13 people in connection with the suspected murder of a 51-year-old man in Tin Shui Wai. As Frank Yung reports, the force said the case is believed to be related to a monetary dispute over "certain illegal activities", and officers are probing whether illicit cigarettes were involved.

War of Resistance exhibition opens at Museum of History

The Museum of History says its new exhibition will be the most comprehensive one Hong Kong has ever organised, in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and the World Anti-Fascist War. More than 180 artefacts will be on display from Wednesday, with 82 items sourced from the National Museum of China. Assistant curator Nelson Chow spoke to Charlie Chun.
Xi hails China's friendship with Russia as "stable and mature"

President Xi Jinping has reaffirmed Beijing's strong friendship with Moscow, describing it as the "most stable, mature and strategically significant" among major world powers. Fed Governor Cook to sue to keep her job

The US Federal Reserve says its governor will seek court approval for her continued ability to serve in her role. That's as her removal is being sought by the US president. Although Donald Trump on Monday said Lisa Cook's firing was "effective immediately", the Fed's statement indicates that Ms Cook's status as a governor hasn't changed. Jamie Clarke has more:

Gaza hospital strike draws global condemnation

More countries and organisations have condemned Israel, a day after strikes on a hospital in southern Gaza killed at least 20 people including five journalists. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it a tragic mishap, but the Arab League said it was "just one episode in a relentless series of massacres deliberately targeting civilians". The Foreign Ministry in Beijing said Israel should stop military operations in Gaza immediately. Azam Khan reports:

Protesters in Israel have set tyres ablaze, blocked highways and clamoured for a ceasefire that would free hostages still in Gaza. That's even as Israeli leaders moved forward with plans for an offensive into Gaza City that they argue is needed to defeat Hamas. Former Sri Lankan president gets bail

A Sri Lankan court has granted bail to former president Ranil Wickremesinghe. The 76-year-old was arrested last week over allegations that he misused state funds while in office. Mr Wickremesinghe joined the court hearing via Zoom from a state-run hospital. His United National Party, or UNP, said he was admitted over the weekend on his doctor's advice to monitor his health. City's exports up 14.3pc in July, beating estimates

Hong Kong's exports performed well last month, with outbound shipments rising for the 17th month in a row. They jumped 14.3 percent from July last year, beating market expectations. But as Chloe Feng reports, shipments to the United States and the European Union continued to fall.
SFC fines HSBC HK$4.2m over disclosure failures

HK marathon applications to be accepted in September

In sport...runners hoping to take part in the annual Hong Kong Marathon will be able to apply for a spot from September 8 until 17. The total number of entries for the full marathon, half marathon and 10km races remains unchanged - at about 74,000. The races will take place on January 18. Past marathon and half-marathon winner Christy Yiu says she will compete in the 10km race this time. Yiu has also been nominated to represent the SAR in the 10km race at November's National Games, pending a final decision. She spoke to Elvis Yu.
Coleman Wong win makes family, HK people proud: dad

Hong Kong tennis star Coleman Wong made history after becoming the first player from the city to win a singles match at a Grand Slam tournament in the Open era. The 21-year-old returns to the court on Wednesday for the second round of the US Open in New York, two days after beating American Aleksandar Kovacevic in straight sets. His father, who followed the action from TV, says he is very proud of his son's resilient performance.
