A group of representatives from the education, medical and social welfare sectors have called for better maternal and infant health policies to create a supportive environment to encourage more people in Hong Kong to have children. The news conference was organised by DAB lawmaker Edward Leung along with experts. They put forward a series of recommendations covering postnatal care, infectious disease prevention, and day care services. Leung said he hopes the suggestions could help gradually increase Hong Kong's birth rate. He spoke to Charlie Chun.
Western powers recognise Palestinian state

Britain, Australia, Canada and Portugal have officially recognised a Palestinian state, while France is set to follow suit with an announcement at United Nations General Assembly opening in New York. Britain said it made the decision after Israel failed to meet conditions to bring an end to the near two-year-old conflict in Gaza. Israel had already rejected the move, saying there will never be a Palestinian state. RTHK's UK correspondent, Gavin Grey told Ben Tse why the latest development is significant, even though more than 140 UN member states already support Palestinian statehood:

Kirk memorial draws huge crowd in Arizona

Thousands of mourners have gathered for a memorial service for conservative activist Charlie Kirk at an Arizona football stadium. Crowds arrived before dawn to get inside to mourn Kirk, who was killed on-stage in Utah on September 10, as he debated with college students. Now to South Africa, and a township nestled in near the mountains of the Western Cape. It's a township created from the legacy of the country's apartheid system. The residents are mostly seasonal labourers, working on farms during the busier seasons when more hands are needed. For much of the time, however, many of the residents are unemployed.
