It was a medal rush for Hong Kong on day seven of the National Games, with two golds, a silver and a bronze to push the city's total medal haul to 14. The gold medals came at the Hong Kong Velodrome and in the pool, while the city's triathletes snatched silver in the mixed relay at the Central Harbourfront. Black bits in Taikoo Shing water are bitumen: govt  Listenfacebook
The Water Supplies Department confirms that water coming out of the tap at Taikoo Shing is safe to drink, despite the appearance of black particles at around 14 blocks of the residential estate. The impurities were also confirmed to be bitumen, which the department said is an inert substance and poses ho harm to human health. Extra cleansing has since been arranged for the water tanks. An exhibition showcasing unique ethnic costumes from over 30 countries and regions opened at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre foyer exhibition area, and will run until November 23. The exhibition is one of the highlights of the annual Asia+ festival, that's organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to celebrate cultural diversity in the region. UK to cut protections for refugees  Listenfacebook
Britain's interior minister has defended plans to drastically reduce protections for refugees and end automatic benefits for asylum seekers. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said irregular migration was "tearing the country apart". A new policy to be set out later today will include plans to make refugee status temporary and to quadruple the length of time refugees will have to wait for permanent settlement in Britain to 20 years. Our UK correspondent Peter Anderson added the government is also expected to encourage refugees to be self-sustainable by encouraging them to work and study:
