US President Donald Trump says he has no knowledge of a Justice Department threat to file criminal charges against Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell. The move is in connection with alleged renovation cost over-runs at the central bank's headquarters in Washington. But Mr Powell says that is just a pretext. Smooth debut for online driving licence queuing system

There's been a smooth debut for a new online appointment system for non-local drivers applying for a Hong Kong licence, according to the Transport Department. All slots were snapped up within half an hour on the first day of operation. Applicants welcomed the new method, saying it's convenient and fair. Wallis Wang has the details.
Legco selects heads for key committees

Lawmakers Ronick Chan and Junius Ho were elected unopposed as chair and vice chair of Legco's House Committee. The Finance Committee will be headed by Jimmy Ng from the Business and Professionals Alliance, while DAB chairman Gary Chan will be his deputy. The results came after new Legco President Starry Lee announced the setting up of a group coordinating council affairs. The group held its first meeting on Monday, as Damon Pang reports:

New high-speed rail destinations welcomed by industry

The travel industry has welcomed the expansion of the Hong Kong section of the high speed rail. The MTR Corporation said it will introduce 16 new stops starting from January 26, bringing the total number of direct-access destinations to over 100. This comes as China moves to expand its vast railway network by 2030 as part of the nation's Five-Year Plan. Three Redhill Peninsula owners fined for illegal works

The Buildings Department says three homeowners at Redhill Peninsula have been convicted and fined a total of HK$275,000 for knowingly carrying out unauthorised building works. The owners of three detached houses pleaded guilty at the Eastern Magistrates' Courts last Thursday. Natale Ching reports.

Apple chooses Google's Gemini AI to power Siri

Tech giants Apple and Google announced a multi-year partnership that will see Apple's next-generation artificial intelligence features, including its Siri assistant, be powered by Google's Gemini technology.
