German police say they’ve shot and killed the chief suspect in what officials have described as a deadly Islamist attack near the Berlin Pride parade. One woman was killed in the attack and twenty-nine others wounded. Jamie Clarke has the details:

The suspect, 21-year old Abdul Ballout, was known to police and had tried to join the Islamic State group. He had a jail sentence suspended partially because he had distanced himself from IS. Todd Harding spoke to our Europe correspondent Peter Anderson for more details:

The right of terminally-ill patients to refuse life-resuscitation and life-sustaining treatment in advance will soon be formalised legally. The Advance Decision on Life-sustaining Treatment Ordinance is set to be implemented starting on July 31. It also offers a legal protection for medical professionals and rescuers to respect the patients' wishes and arrangements.
