Exco approves $40/hr minimum wage  Listenfacebook
Hong Kong's minimum wage is set to go up to $40 an hour. The Executive Council approved the increase after the minimum wage was frozen two years ago. Damon Pang reports:

Legislator Lam Chun-sing says workers on the minimum wage have not had a salary increase for four years. Lam, the chair of the Federation of Hong Kong and Kowloon Labour Unions, wants the wage level adjusted to $46/hr and for the level to be reviewed annually instead of every two years. He said the group used welfare payments for two people as a reference point. Lam told Vicky Wong that although the increase in the minimum wage was higher than the inflation rate, it would not come into affect until May:
China stops issuing visas to Japanese, South Koreans  Listenfacebook
China's embassies in Tokyo and Seoul have stopped issuing visas to Japanese and South Korean citizens. As Mike Weeks reports, the moves are in response to restrictions imposed on Chinese travellers over health concerns:

The government is planning a promotion exercise next month to attract visitors and businesses to Hong Kong. The campaign was announced by Chief Executive John Lee, who said the resumption of quarantine-free travel with the mainland would bring economic benefits to the SAR. Frank Yung reports:

The government earlier clarified that all travellers heading to the mainland must provide a negative PCR test result for Covid, including children and babies. It comes as daily Covid infections fell below 10,000 for the first time in more than a month. 9,379 Covid cases were reported on Tuesday, including 227 imported ones. Members of the government's Land and Development Advisory Committee have urged the administration to reach out early to the banking and finance industry to garner views on financing options for the Kau Yi Chau Artificial Islands plan. Survey shows support, and confusion, over youth blueprint  Listenfacebook
The Hong Kong Southern District Youth Alliance says about nine out of 10 young people who took part in a recent online questionnaire supported the government's Youth Development Blueprint, released in December. But it said some were still confused about its purpose. The questionnaire was completed by 132 respondents aged 12 to 39. Most welcomed the blueprint as a way to help young Hongkongers find affordable housing and job opportunities, and to help them understand their identity in the SAR. The Alliance's vice-chairman, Danny Siu, told Hailey Yip that he hoped the government would offer more support and guidance to young Hong Kong people:

The Business and Professionals Alliance has called on authorities to dish out another round of consumption vouchers to boost businesses recovering from the pandemic.
