The Ocean Park Conservation Foundation has retrieved the carcasses of two dolphins from Pui O Beach on Lantau, to find out why they died. The foundation said one was a newborn, while the other was a severely decomposed adult, measuring 2.4 metres. Dolphin Conservation Society chairman Taison Chang told Anne Chan that the dolphins were likely to have died in the ocean before being washed up onto the beach.

The Ocean Park Conservation Foundation says it is almost impossible to find out the cause of death for the two dolphins stranded on Pui O Beach on Lantau due to their decomposition status. The foundation said one was a newborn, while the other was a severely decomposed adult of 2.4 metres in length. Its Assistant Scientific Manager Dr Edgar Leung says the dolphins may have died over a week ago, making the diagnosis difficult to be carried out. But he told Elvis Yu that the team was able to identify the species of the dolphins.
