Renowned filmmaker Nansun Shi dead at 75

Veteran Hong Kong filmmaker Nansun Shi has passed away at the age of 75. She had produced and distributed many of the city's classic cinematic works, including "Infernal Affairs", "A Chinese Ghost Story", and "Once Upon a Time in China". Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law has expressed sorrow over Shi's passing, saying she had dedicated her life to the film and TV industry, leaving behind precious cinematic memories for the people of Hong Kong. Star Ferry applies for fare hike

The Star Ferry has applied for an average fare hike of 30 percent. If approved, the price of an adult single ticket for both routes on weekdays will go up from 5 dollars to 6 dollars and 50 cents. Elvis Yu reports:
'Automous driving test proceeding smoothly'

Few complaints received against dogs-in-restaurants scheme

There's been a smooth start to the scheme which allows dog owners to bring their pets to over 900 designated restaurants. Just a score of minor complaints were recorded after 2,300 inspections by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department since the first phase of the policy was launched last Thursday. C15+ group says wide reforms needed to boost Northern Metropolis

Another group of lawmakers has thrown its weight behind the Northern Metropolis, presenting various proposals aimed at transforming the development into Hong Kong’s next great economic engine. After meeting Chief Executive John Lee, the group, known as C-15 plus, urged the government to think beyond infrastructure. It called for sweeping reforms in university research, public housing policy and aviation technology to turn the mega-project into a living laboratory for the city's future. Elvis Yu reports:

The Hong Kong Medical Association has launched its annual education campaign to remind adults to get jabs on a regular basis against vaccine-preventable diseases. The Adult Immunisation Public Education Campaign has been running since 2022. Joseph Tsang is a council member of the association and an infectious disease specialist. HKU offers millions to top DSE scorers

The University of Hong Kong has unveiled an HK$80 million fund dedicated to entrance scholarships for local students this year. This comes ahead of the release of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education results on Wednesday. Professor Bennett Yim, Director of Undergraduate Admissions and International Student Exchange at HKU, said the flagship award, the "President's Scholar", will be presented to the top-scoring DSE candidate in each faculty, as well as those who achieve perfect scores in seven or more subjects. Yim also spoke to Belle Yip about the university's new programme offerings:
Shenzhou-23 astronauts put to the test in Tiangong

The three astronauts on the Shenzhou-23 have successfully tested an upgraded in-orbit mass measurement device at the nation's space station. This came as the trio, including Hong Kong's first astronaut, approach their 50th day in orbit with an expanding roster of scientific experiments. Chloe Feng reports:
Trump reimposes blockade on Iranian ports

US President Donald Trump says a naval blockade on Iranian ports will be reimposed -- while vowing hefty fees for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. But Tehran hit back, pledging to charge a lower rate for passage through the waterway. The maritime blockade is due to begin early on Wednesday morning Hong Kong time. Meanwhile, the US military says it has launched a fresh salvo of attacks on Iran, marking the third night in a row it has struck the country. Oil prices have shot up around nine percent. Sean Kennedy reports:
Anti-terror police take charge of Widdecombe murder probe

In the UK, anti-terrorism police have taken charge of an investigation into the killing of veteran right-wing politician Ann Widdecombe after fresh evidence emerged. Police say a suspect detained at the weekend over the attack on the 78-year-old former Conservative minister has now been re-arrested on suspicion of committing, preparing or instigating "terrorism".
