Chinese University of Hong Kong researchers have noticed that as glaciers retreat, vegetation increases in previously barren, ice-covered polar regions. Their recent study of the Arctic found that vegetation recovery rates differ dramatically by region, ranging from less than a decade to over a century. Liu Lin, Associate Professor at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, told RTHK's Backchat programme more about their findings.

US President Donald Trump has said Washington could end its military campaign against Iran within two to three weeks. He told reporters at the White House that Tehran does not have to make a deal with Washington to end the conflict. Earlier, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said his country has the "necessary will" to end the war with the United States and Israel, stressing that Tehran was seeking guarantees the conflict would not flare up again.
