The government says it will take a leading role in converting some village houses in the Northern Metropolis area into restaurants, retail shops or guest houses under a pilot plan to help drive the major development project. HK IPO market among the world's top 2 in 2026: EY

Accounting firm EY has forecast that Hong Kong's initial public offering market would continue to rank number two globally in 2026, after holding on to second place for the first half of the year, behind the USA's Nasdaq. In its half-year report on global fundraising activities, EY estimated that 84 IPOs were expected in the SAR in the first half of this year, valued at nearly HK$210 billion, and up 92 percent year on year. Jacky Lai, spokesman for the firm's Hong Kong Capital Market Services, told RTHK that he's hopeful the SAR market would maintain its momentum in the coming months. He spoke to Chloe Feng.
