Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong says the government may have to resort to legislation to reclaim flats in Wang Fuk Court from homeowners who don't accept its buyout proposal. The government earlier unveiled plans to spend about 6.8 billion dollars to buy back homes in the seven blocks, damaged in the deadly inferno, from flat owners. Frank Yung reports:

A think tank researcher has called on the government to also consider buying back flats of the sole Wang Fuk Court block that had not been affected by the deadly blaze last November. Vice-president of Our Hong Kong Foundation, Ryan Ip, said Wang Chi House may not be pleasant for residents to live in anymore. He also told Frank Yung that he expects the government's acquisition plan to be welcomed by most flat owners of the affected blocks:
