Education sector welcomes Carrie Lam’s new approach  Listenfacebook
Educators have welcomed Carrie Lam's inclusive approach in her HK$5 billion spending boost for the sector, saying she'd incorporated many of their views on how the extra money should be used. The new Chief Executive will unveil full details on Wednesday, but already, education sector lawmaker Ip Kin-yuen says it's clear that Lam has taken a new approach, in actually listening to what educators want. He spoke to RTHK's Annemarie Evans:

Just over seven billion yuan worth of bonds was traded on the first day of the new Bond Connect programme, which gives foreign institutional investors access to China's nine-trillion US dollar debt market. Authorities say there's no timetable yet on when mainland investors will be able to trade debt listed here, though they say this will definitely be the next step. China warns US after warship sails by disputed island  Listenfacebook
China has accused the United States of committing a serious political and military provocation in its territorial waters. Chinese navy vessels and fighter planes have been sent to a disputed island to warn off an American destroyer, the USS Stethem. Officials in Washington say the American ship sailed close to the small island of Triton in an exercise to demonstrate freedom of navigation.
