‘Managing competition and differences key to China-US ties’
President Xi Jinping has unveiled a vision of building a constructive China-US relationship of strategic stability during last week’s summit in Beijing with his American counterpart Donald Trump.
The “constructive strategic stability”, which will guide bilateral ties moving forward, seeks to limit competition and make differences manageable, among other things.
Michael Zeng, a professor at City University of Hong Kong's Department of Public and International Affairs, says Beijing and Washington are now focused on managing their differences and making sure competition doesn’t get in the way of stability following the landmark summit.
Professor Zeng spoke to Hailey Yip.
