China and Peru cemented stronger ties during President Xi Jinping’s recent visit to the South American country, where he attended the Apec leaders’ summit and inaugurated the opening of the Chinese-funded Chancay port, a new shipping hub connecting Asia and Latin America.

The two nations also signed an updated free-trade agreement.
