Two men have died and another is missing after unexpected wild and dangerous weather struck Hong Kong on Saturday afternoon.
A man died after he was struck by lightning when he was hiking in Tai O during the bad weather. Authorities said he became unconscious and was taken to Tuen Mun Hospital by helicopter.
The incident happened at around 2.30pm when the Red Rainstorm warning and the thunderstorm warning were in force.
At around 4pm, four people fell into the sea when a fishing boat capsized near Po Toi Island. One man died and another went missing, while two women were plucked from the sea and taken to hospital.
It was the first Red Rainstorm warning issued this year.
It was replaced by the Amber signal about an later at 3.20pm.
All rainstorm warnings were cancelled at 16.45pm.
The Observatory warned that the public should be wary of possible serious road flooding and traffic congestion.
It also advised members of the public to stay away from watercourses.
