A massive banner was unfurled on Beacon Hill for the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen massacre on Tuesday, saying "Don't Forget June the 4th".

Police were alerted to the banner early in the morning and despite the heavy rain, firefighters managed to remove it within a couple of hours.

The League of Social Democrats posted a photo of the stunt on its Facebook page, with a message saying "See you at the candlelight vigil tonight".

Last month, similar banners were hung on Beacon Hill and Lion Rock opposing the government's planned changes to extradition laws.

The giant yellow banners had also been a feature of the 2014 Occupy protests.
