Several bus services were affected on Monday morning as some key areas of Hong Kong remained blocked off to traffic.

The government had announced that its headquarters in Tamar would remain closed on Monday. The complex has been shut since Thursday.

The Transport Department said around 70 bus routes were affected by the closure of several roads in Admiralty. They said services on 10 routes were suspended while another 63 were rerouted. Officials warned that traffic in Wan Chai would remain affected.

Some pro-democracy unions and other groups had called for a general strike on Monday while some student groups also said they would be boycotting classes to protest against the government's controversial extradition law changes.

Chief Executive Carrie Lam on Saturday announced that her administration was pulling the highly contentious extradition law bill. The government also issued a statement on Sunday, saying Lam is sorry for "causing disappointment and grief among the people".

But the protesters want the Chief Executive to completely withdraw the bill and quit her position.
