  • Protest spills over to major thoroughfares
Protesters have almost choked off vehicular traffic on Harcourt Road and Tim Mei Avenue near the government headquarters as they took over the major thoroughfares near the Legislative Council area.

The incident took place soon after 11 am, when protesters decided to escalate their action in a bid to force the government to address their demands, including the complete withdrawal of the extradition bill, the retraction of calling the June 12 clashes a "riot", the unconditional release of all arrested protesters, as well as an independent investigation into the police's alleged use of excessive force against demonstrators.

Some of the protesters also marched to the Police Headquarters in Wan Chai as Demosisto leader Joshua Wong urged the crowd to surround the complex. Hundreds have arrived at the area and Wong was also present.

Meanwhile, some of the youngsters moved road barriers to Harcourt Road and Tim Mei Avenue, choking off traffic.

The protesters insist they will continue with their action until their demands are met.
