There were violent clashes in Yuen Long MTR Station at around 10pm on Saturday night as riot police chased down protesters and journalists, smashing them with batons.

Officers had earlier pushed hundreds of protesters further and further towards the station – ironically the scene of last weekend's violence which sparked Saturday's unauthorised protest.

Protesters set off fire extinguishers at a pedestrian bridge into the station as they tried to fight the police back.

Riot officers also formed a line to block an entrance into the station.

Blood was splattered across part of the station floor following the clashes.

First aid volunteers treated an injured girl, with protesters forming a protective cordon around them. Another man had a bandage around his head and was covered in blood.

Paramedics also turned up at the station taking at least one person out to an ambulance.

People at the scene told RTHK that riot officers had suddenly stormed into the station catching people off guard, with many of those caught up in the clashes actually planning to catch trains to go home.
