The pro-government DAB party has expressed concerns that children whose parents are police officers might be bullied at schools when classes resume next month.
In light of the recent clashes between the police and anti-extradition protesters, details of some police officers and even their families have been posted on the internet by some pro-protest groups. Posters have also appeared targeting specific officers.
DAB lawmaker Elizabeth Quat said she has received a lot of complaints and requests for help from police officers and their families.
"They received a lot of bullying messages online targeting their kids. They see that their whole family's information including their names, age and schools of their children being exposed on online platforms," she said.
She said anyone, including teachers, who encourage bullying should be punished.
Quat told RTHK's Olivia Tam that teachers should remain politically neutral.
