The government has said that people selected to attend a meeting with Chief Executive Carrie Lam next week won't be allowed to carry items such as flags, umbrellas and helmets – standard gear of anti-extradition bill protesters – into the venue.

A guidance note for those wishing to register online to attend the event on September 26 says participants can expect tight security, including bag checks, at Queen Elizabeth Stadium.

It said while participants can express their views, they "will not be allowed to cause nuisance, inconvenience or danger to other parties".

Among the banned items will be loudhailers, sound amplifiers and umbrellas. Also on the list of barred items are "defensive equipment like mask respirators and helmets", flags and banners. Bottles and canned drinks will not be allowed into the stadium either.

Authorities say they will also be able to deny entry or remove from the venue any person.
