An RTHK reporter has been injured while covering the protests in Lan Kwai Fong on Thursday.
He was initially pushed by a police officer with a shield and had a flashlight shone in his eyes. But when he questioned the riot officer and asked for his identification number, he was then pepper-sprayed at close range twice, requiring treatment in hospital.
A spokesman for RTHK stressed that the reporter was wearing a reflective vest with the government station's logo printed on it.
RTHK has condemned what it called the unnecessary force used by the police on its reporters.
It also again called on the force to respect the freedom of the press and the right of journalists to do their work.
