The Chinese University’s student union president, Jacky So, has applied for an injunction to ban police from entering campus without a warrant or the school’s approval.

The injunction would also block police from using crowd control weapons, such as tear gas and rubber bullets at the university.

So criticised police action at the university campus on Tuesday, accusing officers of using excessive force against students.

"I think that it’s ridiculous and also unacceptable and I can’t understand why they would just enter the campus when there were no protesters," So said.

The High Court held a brief closed-door hearing on Wednesday morning and was to deal with the case at 5pm.
