Anti-government protesters and office workers have taken over main roads in Causeway Bay, Tai Koo, Kwun Tong and Wong Chuk Hang as part of a flash mob lunchtime protest.

At around 1pm, large crowds spilled over onto Hennessy Road near Sogo in Causeway Bay, forcing the major department store to close its shutters.

Hundreds of people also took over a section of King’s Road in Tai Koo while chanting slogans condemning alleged police brutality. Some black-clad protesters barricaded the main thoroughfare with fences, bricks and cones.

Wong Chuk Hang, which has rarely been the scene of protests, also saw hundreds of people taking to the streets and bringing traffic in the area to a standstill.

Demonstrators walked down Wong Chuk Hang Road chanting slogans and raising their five fingers, calling on the government to immediately respond to the five demands of anti-government protesters.

Major roads in Kwun Tong were also blocked, as had been for the past few days, after scores of protesters and office workers joined the territory-wide lunchtime protest.

There was hardly any visible police presence in these areas.
