For the second straight night, riot police fired tear gas near Langham Place in Mong Kok to try to disperse anti-government protesters.

Video footage showed at least two people were subdued by officers around midnight.

Demonstrators have been in the area since Sunday evening, hurling abuses at police. Some also obstructed roads.

Earlier, scuffles erupted between people of different political views, and at least one man suffered neck injuries.

In a statement, the police accused protesters of threatening public order. "Some rioters even assaulted three innocent passers-by, taking the law into their own hands," it says.
