Officials announced on Thursday that three more people have tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total to 53.

Health officials said the first case was a 43-year-old man who lives in Tuen Mun and who is a relative of a 66-year-old man who was diagnosed with the illness on Tuesday. The two men had dinner with 11 other family members on January 30.

The officials said efforts are being made to trace the relatives, but it's doubtful they will need to go into quarantine due to the time that has passed since the dinner.

Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the Communicable Disease Branch at the Centre for Health Protection, said latest victim worked at the Nathan Commercial Building in Yau Ma Tei, and that 10 of his colleagues have been put in quarantine as a precaution. Officials are also trying to trace three of his clients.

The man developed a cough on January 29 and had nausea two days later. He consulted different doctors three times. He was admitted to Tuen Mun Hospital on Tuesday and was diagnosed on Wednesday.

The two other new cases involve a 67-year-old woman and her 37-year-old son, who shared a meal at a Chinese restaurant with three people who subsequently tested positive .
