A 70-year-old local patient who had come down with the new coronavirus has died, the second death linked to Covid-19 in Hong Kong.
Princess Margaret Hospital said the man was the 55th case reported in Hong Kong, and he passed away on Wednesday morning.
Health officials had said earlier that the man had an underlying illnesses and lived alone in Shek Yi House in Kwai Chung.
He was sent to hospital exactly a week ago after a fall at home.
The man then told hospital staff he had felt a shortness of breath and had been coughing since February 2.
The patient had a day trip to the mainland on January 22 through the Lok Ma Chau Control Point.
After he was admitted to hospital, tests showed he was infected with Covid-19.
On February 4, Hong Kong reported its first coronavirus death case. The 39-year-old man was a diabetic and had travelled to Wuhan last month.
