From Saturday, some of the people undergoing a two-week quarantine at government facilities will be allowed to go home early to free up space to cope with a rising number of close contacts of confirmed cases.

The Centre for Health Protection on Thursday said it would allow some people to go after 10 days but they will have to spend the other four days quarantined at home and they will be given an electronic wristband.

It said the move is to ensure there will be enough capacity to deal with upcoming cases, and stressed that those who are allowed to leave early will have to pass a Covid-19 test and a health assessment.
