Police were preparing to suspend one of their sergeants on Thursday after he was arrested during a drugs bust in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Several people were detained during the police operation at a hotel in the early hours of Thursday, including the officer. Late on Thursday, police arrested a second officer, a 37-year-old man, in Shek Kip Mei.
The sergeant was being questioned and was to be suspended from duty, sources told RTHK. Police were believed to have recovered at least two kilogrammes of the illegal drug methamphetamine.
In the later arrest in Shek Kip Mei, police are believed to have seized a further 23 kilogrammes of the drug.
Police say initial investigations suggest that the cases involving the two officers were linked to the biggest ever seizure of methamphetamine on record at an empty shop in Jordan.
Five arrests were made last Tuesday over a 296-kilogramme haul worth some HK$158 million.
The sergeant arrested on Thursday was believed to have been involved in last week's drugs find.
