Hong Kong's sole delegate to China's top legislative body, Tam Yiu-chung, has urged opposition lawmakers not to cause any more trouble, saying it's time for Legco and its House Committee to get back on the right track.

The council saw a series of unruly scenes after DAB's Starry Lee took over the control of the House Committee from opposition's Dennis Kwok.

Pro-democracy lawmakers scuffled with security staff who formed a protective wall around Lee and pro-government side members as they tried to prevent the proceedings.

Opposition lawmaker Ray Chan and Andrew Wan were sent to hospital after they were injured in the melee and all the opposition members were eventually thrown out of the meeting room.

Tam said Lee handled Friday's House Committee meeting quite well, despite the clashes that broke out.

He said lawmakers should not scuffle in future, as Legco is not a place for lawmakers to brawl, or "put on a performance".

He added that how lawmakers act will also have an influence on young people.
