Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung on Sunday accused critics of a police watchdog report into last year's social unrest of having bad intentions.
Writing in his blog, Cheung said comments that the watchdog was being used to "support the police" and to "whitewash the force" were intended only to attack the force.
He said the report was the product of careful, objective and comprehensive scrutiny by the watchdog, and laid out the facts of what happened during several individual incidents during the unrest.
Cheung said he hoped the public would give the report a fair and honest evaluation and not take seriously the one-sided videos, misleading information, and false accusations some people have posted online.
