The Liaison Office on Monday warned against "underestimating" Beijing's determination to crack down on acts promoting Hong Kong independence.

It said opposition and radical forces had caused widespread damage in the name of protesting against the national security law and anthem bill on Sunday.

The Liaison Office said the violent acts had revealed the "true colours" of "rioters" trying to force "mutual destruction" upon Hong Kong through working with foreign forces and creating terror.

It also condemned protesters for calling for Hong Kong independence and waving foreign national flags, and criticised the attacks on shops with links to the mainland.
