Karaoke parlours, nightclubs, bathhouses, and party rooms will be allowed to re-open from Friday as Hong Kong relaxes more social distancing measures as the Covid-19 situation improves.

Speaking ahead of her weekly Executive Council meeting on Tuesday, Chief Executive Carrie Lam said the restrictions on these types of premises will expire at midnight on May 28.

Lam also confirmed that Hong Kong airport will resume transit services from June 1. They have been suspended since late March.

While a number of entertainment venues such as bars and cinemas have already been allowed to reopen, a ban on public gatherings of more than eight people is to stay in place up to and including June 4.

The current number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Hong Kong stands at 1,065, with no new patients so far this week.

The Hospital Authority said on Monday that 32 people with the virus were still in hospital, with one in a critical condition and the rest said to be stable.
