Macau has announced that visitors from six countries will not be allowed to board its special ferries from the Hong Kong airport unless they have a certificate showing they have tested negative for Covid-19.

The countries are India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines, Indonesia and Brazil.

Health officials said the certificate must be issued by qualified medical institutions from those countries, and stressed that the move is to protect the health of ferry workers and other passengers.

Meanwhile, health authorities in Hong Kong confirmed three more imported cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases in the city to 1,196.

The Centre for Health Protection said on Friday that the latest cases comprise three males who reported symptoms like fever, cough and runny nose.

Two seven-year-old boys had arrived in Hong Kong on Saturday and Tuesday respectively from Pakistan, while one 26-year-old man had arrived in the SAR from Mauritania on Tuesday.
