  • Trio fined while commemorating protester's death
Three people have been handed penalty tickets on Saturday for breaching social-distancing rules while commemorating the death of an anti-extradition protester in Admiralty.

The activity began with two people chanting slogans inside Pacific Place, who then laid flowers outside the mall. A woman later joined in and observed a moment of silence.

The trio was later stopped and questioned by police officers, who were on standby with around a dozen others at the scene.

They were issued fixed-penalty tickets, after officers accused them of breaching a rule that imposes a two-person limit on group gatherings.

The three told reporters that they had only wanted to commemorate the death of 35-year-old Leung Ling-kit, who fell to his death outside Pacific Place during an anti-extradition rally on June 15 last year.
