A New World First Bus driver was arrested by police on suspicion of dangerous driving on Sunday afternoon amid protests over the delayed Legco elections.

Police said the bus number 970, heading from So Uk Estate to Cyberport, was travelling in a high speed along Nathan Road near Man Ming Lane in Yau Ma Tei, and that it was very close to officers and endangered their safety.

"The driver was stopped because his driving attitude was very dangerous," said the police statement posted on their Facebook page.

The force’s livestream saw an officer telling the driver that his action was "provocative", and the "unreasonable" honking affected the work of the police and stirred up people’s emotions.

New World First Bus said it’s following up on the incident.
