Police said they are looking for two suspects who’ve allegedly threw petrol bombs and debris onto Lung Cheung Road in Wong Tai Sin on Thursday.

The force said it received a report that the men threw the objects near Tin Ma Court at around 3pm, but no vehicles were hit.

Officers arrived at the scene and found burnt tarmac, as well as road barriers and traffic cones.

Police said it’s classified the case as arson, adding they “condemn the evil acts of the rioters".

Police also said they have arrested a 20-year-old man in Wan Chai on suspicion of possessing weapons, after officers found a paper cutter, a spanner, plastic straps and a pair of gloves in his bag.

Officers said the man was intercepted near the junction of Tonnochy Road and Lockhart Road.

In its Facebook page, the force said it’s highly concerning that people are found possessing offensive weapons in a crowded place, saying it poses an “extremely big threat” to members of the public.

"Why would anyone bring these dangerous items to a busy street?", the police asked in its Twitter post.
