The trial of the first man charged with secession and terrorism under the national security law is to be transferred from West Kowloon Court to the High Court.

This emerged as Tong Ying-kit attended a hearing at West Kowloon Court on Tuesday.

The magistrate has adjourned the case to November 16, when the transfer procedures will be made. The defendant did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody.

Meantime, the prosecution has also made a number of amendments to the charges he faces – including expanding the area where he allegedly incited secession to cover a broad area from the Eastern Harbour Crossing to Wan Chai.

The 23-year-old was displaying a flag bearing the slogan "Liberate Hong Kong" on his motorcycle, before allegedly riding his vehicle into a group of police officers.
