Police said on Tuesday that they had arrested two of their own officers after a woman alleged the pair had raped her in a hotel in Mong Kok.
The force said the two policemen, who are both 22, had been detained while an investigation is carried out by the Kowloon West Regional Headquarters, and they were being suspended from duty.
The police said the two officers, from the tactical unit and the crime wing, were off-duty at the time of the alleged rape.
Media reports said the men had met the woman at a bar before they went to the hotel together.
The force said it attaches great importance to the conduct of its staff and deals strictly with any illegal acts.
