Eight police officers charged in connection with the assault of a street sleeper in Sham Shui Po have been granted bail after their court appearance on Wednesday.
Eastern Court granted the six men and two women bail of HK$1,000 each.
Three of the officers are accused of causing severe bodily harm to a homeless person, or damaging his belongings, when they were on duty in Tung Chau Street Park last February.
Two of those officers, along with four of their colleagues, are charged with trying to pervert the course of justice for allegedly trying to cover up a security camera, or falsely accusing a man of carrying dangerous drugs.
Another officer is charged with misconduct in public office for allegedly not stopping his colleagues.
The defendants are due to appear in court again next month.
