Hong Kong’s Grace Lau added to the SAR's record medals tally at the Tokyo Olympics on Thursday when she won bronze in the women's solo "kata" competition.
Lau edged out Turkey’s Dilara Bozan with a score of 26.94, compared with 26.52 for her opponent.
Spain's Sandra Sanchez Jaime took gold, beating home favourite Kiyou Shimizu of Japan 28.06 – 27.88.
And in the second bronze medal bout, Viviana Bottaro of Italy defeated Sakura Kokumai of the United States 26.48 – 25.40.
The competition is karate’s first foray into the Olympics, with athletes performing routines at the Nippon Budokan arena, the spiritual home of Japanese martial arts in Tokyo.
Earlier on Thursday, the Hong Kong women's table tennis team won bronze, beating Germany.
Hong Kong now has one gold, two silver and two bronze medals in its most successful Olympic Games ever.
