Hong Kong's star track cyclist Sarah Lee on Sunday was narrowly beaten in the semi-finals by Olena Starikova of Ukraine in 2 straight races and therefore did not reach the final.
She will race for the bronze later.
Yesterday she kept alive her hopes of winning a medal when she pipped French opponent Mathilde Gros in Heat 4 of the 1/8th finals at the line by about half a wheel.
Lee then raced Team GB's Katy Marchant and beat her 2-0 in their best-of-three quarter-final, on both occasions with a last-minute burst of speed to snatch it at the line.
