Chief Executive Carrie Lam said on Thursday that RTHK can join other stations to televise the Tokyo Paralympics, after it was excluded from broadcasting the Olympics earlier.
Speaking at a flag presentation ceremony for the Hong Kong Paralympics delegation at Government House, Lam said the public broadcaster, along with Hong Kong's five other licensed TV stations, will air some of the events live.
She said RTHK will broadcast the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as live programs of no less than 70 hours.
She added that the station will provide additional services such as sign language interpretation.
The CE said the Hong Kong team's best-ever results in the Tokyo Olympics had created an ideal atmosphere for the Paralympians, and urged the athletes to do their best.
The Games will kick off on August 24th, and the Hong Kong team will send 24 athletes to compete in eight sports.
