Shinnosuke Oka of Japan has captured his third gold medal at the Paris Olympics, winning the horizontal bar final on Monday.
Oka executed a clean routine to come away with a score of 14.533.
He earned a difficulty of 5.900 and an execution score of 8.633.
Colombia’s Angel Barajas also had a score of 14.533 but had to settle for silver because Oka had a higher execution mark.
Both were competing in their first Olympics.
This is the fourth medal in Paris for Oka, who has already won gold in the team event and the all-around as well as a bronze in the parallel bars.
China's Zhang Boheng and Tang Chia-hung of Chinese Taipei shared the bronze medal.
Zhang, also a first-time Olympian, completed his routine with clean technique and execution, but the 24-year-old wasn’t able to stick his dismount, falling forward.
He earned a 13.966 with a difficulty of 6.500 and execution of 7.466.
Tang had a small fall in the middle of his routine, but the rest of his technique was able to pull him to a 13.966.
The horizontal bar final saw its share of errors and falls, including China’s Su Weide who was unable to land on his feet, leaning forward to catch himself with his hands. He finished in fifth place.
