China through to team table tennis finals in Paris

China's men and women on Thursday powered their way through to their respective finals in the team table tennis competitions at the Paris Olympics.

The nation's men defeated hosts France 3-0 in their semi-final match-up at South Paris Arena 4, while the women crushed South Korea by the same scoreline.

Ma Long and Wang Chuqin took the opening doubles match for the men in straight games.

They got past the French duo of Simon Gauzy and Alexis Lebrun 13-11, 11-5, 11-2.

Fan Zhendong then beat Felix Lebrun in a singles match 3-1.

Wang sealed the win for China when he took care of Alexis Lebrun 3-1 in the second singles match.

China will face Sweden in Friday's final, with France playing Japan for bronze.

Meanwhile for the women Chen Meng and Wang Manyu won the first doubles match 3-1 against Shin Yubin and Jeon Jihee, before Sun Yingsha and Wang won their singles matches against Lee Eunhye and Jeon respectively in straight games.

Team China will await the winner of the tie between Japan and Germany to see who they face in the final, which will take place on Saturday night Hong Kong time.
