Chief Executive John Lee said he and his team will wear matching green ties and scarves during the Policy Address on Wednesday.
Writing on social media on Sunday, Lee said the design, created by a team at the Technological and Higher Education Institute, was inspired by the city's three iconic bridges -- the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB), the Tsing Ma Bridge, and the Ting Kau Bridge.
Lee said the HZMB marks the Greater Bay Area's closer integration by connecting three cities, the Tsing Ma Bridge signifies Hong Kong's international perspective as it leads to the airport, and the Ting Kau Bridge links the north-western part of New Territories with the Lantau Link, which represents deep integration and harmonious developments.
"[The three bridges] symbolise that Hong Kong has top-tier infrastructure and a comprehensive transport network. The city can [also] effectively serve as a super-connector and super value-adder, by connecting Hong Kong with the mainland, as well as international markets," he said.
"Simultaneously, Hong Kong also actively serves as a vital two-way platform that [helps enterprises] go global and attract foreign investment," he added.
Lee also said the endless flow of traffic on the three bridges showcases Hong Kong's prosperity and vitality.
He also expressed his appreciation towards the design team's talent and philosophy.
