New York Times' lawsuit against OpenAI, AI-powered antibiotics discovery, and politician's AI-generated speech
We've seen AI firms being sued for using data from other parties to train their tech without consent. And in the latest case, the New York Times says it’s suing OpenAI and Microsoft for using its stories to train chatbots.
The media outlet alleged that the companies had sought to “free-ride on its massive investment in journalism” by taking millions of its articles without permission for training, adding that the infringement could cost “billions of dollars in statutory and actual damages”.
So does the newspaper have a strong case? Listen to AI consultant Raj Shroff’s take on the issue.
You'll also hear about the first discovery of antibiotics in 60 years with the help of AI, and a former Pakistani prime minister, Imran Khan, having his voice cloned to give a speech from jail.
