Calligraphy master blesses customers with fai chuns  Listenfacebook
Today marks the 28th day of the 12th lunar month. According to traditional Chinese customs, it's a day designated for "spring cleaning", where families deep-clean their homes and put up new "fai chuns" - red banners carrying auspicious phrases - as they prepare to usher in the new year. While the market is flooded with mass produced, digitally-printed "fai chuns", many people still prefer the more traditional, handwritten ones that are becoming quite rare in the city. RTHK visited one elderly calligraphy master in North Point, and asked him why it's so important to preserve this piece of traditional Chinese craft. Natale Ching has this story.
