Israeli forces have withdrawn from a key corridor in Gaza, in what is the latest commitment under a tenuous ceasefire. The development comes amid growing concerns over whether the truce between Hamas and Israel can hold. As it stands, the arrangement ends in March. But the two sides appear to have made little progress on negotiating phase two of the ceasefire. Jamie Clarke has the story.

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has expressed optimism that his country could avoid higher US tariffs, after meeting US President Donald Trump at the White House. Upon returning to Tokyo yesterday, Mr Ishiba says he believes he and Mr Trump have chemistry. Analysts said the Japanese leader has demonstrated how to maintain a good relationship with Mr Trump. Trump accuses South Africa of imposing anti-white policies

In South Africa, organisations representing Afrikaners have rejected US President Donald Trump's plan to offer them refugee status in the United States. Afrikaners are mostly white descendants of early Dutch and French settlers, who own most of the country's farmland. Mr Trump signed an executive order to cut US aid to South Africa as punishment for what the Trump administration claims were "rights violations". Washington's move to sanction South Africa came after he and his South African-born ally Elon Musk accused its Black leadership of having an anti-white stance. Jamie Clarke reports.
Baltic nations switch off Russian power grid

The flow of electricity between the Baltic countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and Russia have officially been severed. Officials have switched off the transmission lines of the Soviet-era grid and prepared to switch to power sources in Europe. The move comes more than three decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and ends the Baltics' final ties to oil- and gas-rich Russia. Jamie Clarke has more.
