Eight-thousand-five-hundred tickets for the opening ceremony of the Kai Tak Sports Park on March the first will go on sale on a first-come, first-served basis starting on Friday. The figure is among the total number of 33,600 seats available for the event. Janice Lo reports.

Around one-thousand spectators are expected to attend this weekend's handball tournament that will serve as a test event for the upcoming National Games. A four-day conference aimed at promoting the importance of sports law and arbitration is currently underway in Hong Kong. Organised by the Law Society, the symposium -- called the "2025 Sports Law Mega Event" -- explores the connection between sports, law, and business. From now until Sunday, there will be a number of activities aiming to facilitate exchange between lawyers and visiting guests. Surveyors say the successful sale of a plot in Tung Chung Town shows that while the city's bidding interests remain strong, it will negatively affect residential prices in nearby areas. The comments came after the government awarded a 50-year land grant to a subsidiary of Sun Hung Kai Properties, for HK$602 million. Cyrus Fong from the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors told Chloe Feng that at around HK$1,500 per square foot, the accommodation value was the lowest in a decade.
New light rail route to showcase gems of Tuen Mun  Listenfacebook
The MTR is launching a new light-rail sightseeing route, to help visitors explore Tuen Mun. Six so-called "Tuen Mun Voyager" trams will run on a circular route on weekends and public holidays. The journey will last about one hour and 15 minutes, although passengers can hop on and off at any of the 12 stops. A one-day travel pass costs HK$50. Tuen Mun West District Councillor Chung Kin-fung thinks the ticket price is reasonable and believes many local shops will benefit. He spoke to Elvis Yu.
CUHK, Peking University announce app to treat depression, insomnia  Listenfacebook
Chinese University researchers working with their counterparts at Peking University have found that using a special app can help improve depression among youths who suffer from insomnia. The study looked at over 700 people, aged between 15 and 25, who had insomnia and depressive symptoms. The participants undertook treatment via an app for six weeks instead of face-to-face interaction. Their incidence rate of depression showed a 40 percent drop. Professor Wing Yun-kwok, chairman of the CUHK's Department of Psychiatry, spoke to Vanessa Cheng.
US, Ukraine cancel joint press conference  Listenfacebook
A news conference that was planned to follow talks between Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky and the United States’ Ukraine envoy has been cancelled. That’s as political tensions deepen between the two countries over how to end the almost three-year war with Russia. Dozens of journalists gathered at Ukraine’s presidential office in Kyiv after being invited to take photos and observe the news conference. There was no reason given for the sudden change, except that it was in accordance with the US' wishes. As Jamie Clarke reports, the White House has since said that American President Donald Trump is, quote, “very frustrated” with the Ukrainian leader.

Israel denounces Hamas for staging of hostage bodies handover  Listenfacebook
The bodies of four Israeli hostages, taken alive by Hamas on the seventh of October 2023, have been returned to Tel Aviv. Red Cross vehicles drove away from the handover site in the Gaza Strip with four black coffins, two of which were occupied by the youngest captives taken by Hamas – an infant and his four-year-old brother. According to the Israeli military, the caskets were scanned for explosives, before being transported to Israel. Jamie Clarke has more.
