From November 1, children under the age of eight, or who are under 1.35 meters will be required to sit in child car seats when travelling in private cars. Children older than eight years old or taller than 1.35 metres, meanwhile, must either wear a seatbelt or use a restraining device like a seat belt adjuster, a wearable safety restraint vest or a foldable booster. The Trade Development Council said a new index it's introduced to gauge how well Hong Kong fares in environmental, social and governance, or ESG, has identified several strengths.
The council said it used the index in a survey of more than 1,200 vendors and buyers during several of its trade fairs and business events last year. Overall, Hong Kong received a total of 64.3 points on the index, a figure well above the neutral point of 50. Irina Fan, TDC's director of research, said the findings suggest Hong Kong excels in areas such as availability and diversity in green and sustainable products or services, talent training, as well as connecting with the markets of international trade partners. She spoke to Natasha Ho.

Coalition talks should begin now: Merz  Listenfacebook
Germany’s opposition leader Friedrich Merz says he wants to begin coalition talks immediately with the centre-left Social Democrats, after claiming victory in Sunday’s national election. Merz says his top three priorities for negotiations are curbing migrations, the economy and Europe’s foreign and security policy. That will likely require diplomacy and a readiness to compromise, both of which haven’t been too evident in recent weeks. It's still a much easier task than it might have been. For hours on Sunday night, it looked likely that Merz would need to add a second centre-left partner to put together a parliamentary majority. Jamie Clarke has more.
