Dennis Kwok says ‘writing on the wall’ for him as a lawmaker  Listenfacebook
The Civic Party’s Dennis Kwok says it's clear that mainland authorities are moving to unseat him as a lawmaker after the State Council's Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office (HKMAO) issued a fresh statement accusing him of breaching his oath of office. But he, in return, accused Beijing of seeking to demolish One Country, Two Systems by putting into practice a plan - laid out by the State Council six years ago - to exercise 'comprehensive jurisdiction' over Hong Kong. In three statements on Tuesday, the HKMAO condemned Kwok for holding up proceedings of the Legislative Council and preventing the passing of the national anthem law. It also voiced firm support for the police over the arrests of 15 pro-democracy veterans last weekend. Candice Wong reports:
Carrie Lam set to reshuffle her cabinet for first time  Listenfacebook
Four top ministers are reportedly set to leave Carrie Lam's administration in the first reshuffle of her government despite the worst political and health crises Hong Kong has faced since at least 1997. RTHK has been told that those leaving include the head of the Civil Service Bureau, who will be replaced by Patrick Nip, the current Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs. Altis Wong has the details:
Hong Kong drops further in World Press Freedom Index  Listenfacebook
The police have announced they will take ‘appropriate follow-up action' against RTHK, after the communications regulator slapped the public broadcaster with a serious warning for airing unsubstantiated comments it said could be regarded as ‘hate speech’ against the force. On Monday, the Communications Authority said hundreds of complaints over the accuracy and incitement to hatred of a November 20 episode of the political commentary programme "Pentaprism" had been substantiated. The police welcomed the news. This comes as Hong Kong fell another seven places in the latest World Press Freedom Index. The SAR is now ranked 80th out of 180 . The index is compiled by Reporters Without Borders, which said there were many acts of violence against Hong Kong’s media during last year's mass protests. The head of its East Asia Bureau, Cedric Alviani, spoke to Richard Pyne:
Restaurant owner says easing of restrictions will make no difference  Listenfacebook
The government has extended social-distancing measures for two more weeks despite the very low numbers of new coronavirus infections. Four were reported on Tuesday, all of them imported cases. However, one restriction is being relaxed: restaurants will now be allowed to run at more than half of their capacity. But the co-founder of Black Sheep Restaurants, Syed Asim Hussain, says this will make no difference to his business. He told Mike Weeks the social restrictions have been hitting his two dozen restaurants hard:
Faster virus testing limited by kit supplies  Listenfacebook
The Hospital Authority has introduced a new testing process for Covid-19 that promises to deliver results in 45 minutes, rather than the six hours it can take for traditional tests. The problem is that supplies of testing kits are limited. This means they'll only be used in the emergency departments of ten public hospitals for now. Violet Wong reports:
Families ‘panicking’ over coronavirus separations  Listenfacebook
Many parents are worried over the Centre for Health Protection’s current policy requiring everyone who tests positive for Covid-19 to be isolated in hospital, no matter what their age. This has led to the separation of young children from their parents. Janice Wong asked Priscilla Lui, the chairperson of the Hong Kong Committee on Children’s Rights, for her views on this arrangement:
