Beijing announced on Monday that it will adopt a looser monetary policy and a more proactive fiscal policy after a Politburo meeting on next year's economic plan. It marks a shift from the country's rather prudent policy stance since 2011. Raymond Yeung, the chief Greater China economist at ANZ Bank, says Beijing's announcement sends a positive signal to the market. He also told Kelly Yu that careful timing and execution will be important, given ongoing China-US tensions.

A Thai singer's death following “neck-twisting” massages have prompted warnings from practitioners about the risks involved. Chayada Prao-hom died on Sunday from a blood infection and brain swelling. Before she passed, she had posted on social media about feeling a numbness in her fingers and right leg after three massage sessions. Hong Kong Massage Therapy Association chairman Kerry Fung warned these symptoms could imply spinal damage from improper manipulation of the neck. He called on people to avoid neck-cracking sessions and told Natale Ching about the risks.
S Korea ex-defence minister arrested for insurrection  Listenfacebook
South Korea's former defence minister has been formally arrested on insurrection charges related to President Yoon Suk Yeol's brief declaration of martial law, which plunged the country into chaos. Kim Yong-hyun, who had first been detained on Sunday, has now been arrested on charges including "engaging in critical duties during an insurrection" and "abuse of authority to obstruct the exercise of rights". It comes as authorities banned more officials from leaving the country, as Tony Sabine reports.

Operation Santa Claus 2024 is in full swing, and this year we’re raising money for 11 charities. One of those participating this year is Kids4Kids - a non-profit organisation founded in 2008 in Hong Kong to inspire young people to act and make a positive impact in the community. Jeff Cheung went to their office in Wan Chai to speak to their Executive Director, Matt Coulson.
